Same-same. If you don't specify in your question what part of 1955 model year you're talking about. 1955-59 are ALL Task Force trucks, not "Series 2" anything.

1955 1st half of the model year were Advanced design trucks, 2nd half of model year were Task Force trucks the same as 1958-59.

Re: Series 1 + 2 wheels difference

ok, correct me if I am wrong and I don't mean to hurt anybody's feeling here, I am sure I missed something.
47-53 are the same truck basically. some differences in the door handles and side windows
54-55.1 are basically the same as the earlier trucks except they have a one piece windshield, so no more split. some differences in the front end parts body as well I think
55.2-57 are basically the same with single headlights each side
58-59 are basically the same as 55-57 except they have dual headlights each side plus a longer hood/fender/frame. the cabs are the same cab from 55.1-59 except for the GMC versions which have a totally different dash
47-55.1 are called advanced design thus the AD designation a lot of guys use
55.2-59 are called task force trucks thus the TF designation
if you go to the site below you may find all sorts of useable info for your truck

Re: Series 1 + 2 wheels difference

not short...no worry...just confusion...like Dan stated in post 4...1955 was a split year of body styles...commonly referred to as 1st and 2nd series...they go 47-55.1(the A.D. era) and 55.2-59 (the T.F. era)

sorry (I was off in internet world and the post didn't update until I replied here)..they covered it..

Not sure of the dividing year for these changes but:
- Some have two piece windshields and later ones have one piece.
- Some have turn down door handles/some not.
- Some have wind wings/some not.
- Some have air vents on the side of the cab/some not.

The AD guys know the dividing years. I am a Task Force guy so I don't, sorry.

- Yes, but '55.2 has large centrally located hood ornament
- '56-'57 have hood ornament that is longer and mounted along leading edge.
- Side emblems on '55 have white background, is one piece & below belt line.
- '56 is two piece, has black background & is above belt line.
- '57 has a long oval side emblem above belt line.
- '57 has the "mouth" style grill which requires front fenders be slightly different.
- '57 hood has two raised ridges, '55.2 -'56 hoods are smooth.

Yes, but '58-'59 hoods and hood hinges are different and not interchangeable. (Well, not easily! Lol). So where/how they bolt onto the cab is different. But it CAN be changed. Kabwe(Bam) has backdated his '58 to wear a '55.2-'56 front clip.

- Yes, BUT they start with '47.2. '47 is a split year as is '55. '41-'47.1 are Art Deco trucks; also abbreviated AD sometimes.

Hope this was helpful and not annoyingly detailed.

PS: I didn't notice if you were short. All's cool.

Dale
55.2 to 59 had three hub cap clips and are 4.5 inches wide.
Previous to 55.2 they had 6 clips and were 4" wide.
A 16" three clip was offered in the Task Force and Blue Chip (GMC) series.
Yes, both will fit, but are not the same as described above.
