Fuel gauge trouble...
So I installed a new tank/sending unit in my '72
Well I also installed a tach cluster at the same time. The gauge only reads 1/4-2/3 tank no matter what. I didn't test the sweep prior to install but it was free and the float wasn't bent out of shape. Any ideas? I can certainly make an educated guess at the level but I'd like to see it working. MOD

If you unplug the sending unit the gauge usually goes to 3 o clock position

Turn the ignition on.
Unplug the sending until wire and watch the gauge. The gauge needle should peg one way. Ground the wire at the sending unit to the tank or something grounded to the chassis. The gauge needle should peg the opposite direction. if it does, its your sender. If it doesn't, its your wiring or gauge.
