There are still decent people out there

I got a call from an acquaintance that owns a local, high end body shop. He says to me:
"I bought a 70 C10 from a guy and it came with a bunch of Tupperware boxes full of parts. When I sold the truck I didn't mention to the buyer I had all these parts, do you want them? Maybe there are some things for your truck."

Of course I said yes, and it is some really good stuff.

Its nice to know there are still other people out there that have the spirit of giving, i don't know how to explain it. In times of deep divides and selfish motives, this is refreshing.

Have a great Friday everyone!

15 minutes should have been plenty for some pictures to be posted. We need pictures of these mystery boxes full of rare Old Stock parts!!!!

I think the jackpot was a complete set of all 3 (2 each) light tan seat belts, GM, with matching retractors with the rubber covers in great shape. What is that color called?

Oh and a bunch of the OG wiper blades in new condition. Those fit my impala too.

Re: There are still decent people out there

You are correct. The fellow who recently bought our 72 C30 MoHome called today to tell me how great it runs and how much he and wife enjoyed it this summer. He replaced the original dealer AC option with a new Vintage Air setup (AC and heater) and wants to bring me the original fan with motor, heater coil, etc.

Also said that he has purchased a later Chev model front disc brake setup and wants to give me the all of the removed front brake parts and DRUMS once he makes the change. That may come om handy as those drums seem hard to find. Simply a good guy.

No, I have saddle in my truck and it is fairly dark brown, maybe Parchment?

Re: There are still decent people out there

Speaking of "decent people" I was over to Jeff's Bowties yesterday and bought his grill guard.

He knew I needed to clean the paint and rust off some brackets and he offered and we used his blasting cabinet. He did a great job and when I offered to pay him, he refused to take it.

He also offered for me to sit in and start that beautiful 1 ton truck of his. Wow, it was great!

I just wanted to put that into writing.

Gold from '69. Sandalwood is the steering wheel/column/dash pad color for Parchment interior which came with Parchment seat belts.

I just got a call yesterday asking if I want a wide belt sander (16" wide, stationary, self-feed) for free. He said he'd rather see a friend put it to good use than sell on Craigslist.

I saw an 81/82 K20 at the grocery store with a busted out grille (single headlight) and brand new aluminum radiator. I left a card that I wrote, "Want a good dual headlight grille/core support assembly for free?". As I backed into the driveway the phone rang and withing a 1/2 hour it was in the bed of his truck. I just wanted it gone, but it felt even better getting it gone knowing it was a young couple with a toddler. I'm sure life isn't real easy for them and I could see they really appreciated it.

The way I figure life is "you get what you give"
