replacement frame on a 56 chevy truck
after reading some past threads. Thinking of replacing my frame on the 56 Chevy truck. Found several rust holes under cab. Also someone before me installed or tried to install a La saber front clip not a good job. After seeing the rust am open to suggestions what other years fit the 56.thinking a virgin frame were I can you my own work. Thanks

55 - 57 frames are the same. 58-59 are longer in front by like 2 inches.

Re: replacement frame on a 56 chevy truck
the frames are actually pretty flat and straight forward so if you plan on cutting the front off for a new clip and also cutting the rear for putting a big c notch in then you might as well just fab a whole new frame with the width you need.otherwise you end up with a new (used) front part, an old middle section, and then a new rear part.
what are you trying to end up with as an outcome? stock height, low rider, slightly lowered, just power steering and brakes with IFS up front and decent rear suspension? |
