Question for the 67 Electrical Wizards - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm currently reviving a 67 stepper with a 68 gen 1 350 ci w/Carter AFB "Competition Series" carb. My question is: What is this small dark blue wire? My color diagrams dont show it and my 72's dont have a blue wire exiting the wire block like this. It appears to be a factory wire...? Thanks in advance...~Ghostrider~

Possibly to the oil pressure sender? That's what it looks like on my diagram here.

The panel and motor are set up with a mechanical oil pressure gauge,(factory)...The temp wire (green) is working. The purple solenoid wire is wired to the S terminal and works. The HEI Dizzy is on a dedicated 12 volts from the fuse block. (Ignition terminal) I'm assuming the white wire was the resister wire for the old points dizzy...?

The line called 20DBL [20 Gauge Dark Blue] from the upper connector on the Bulkhead Connector bundle is for the Right Hand, Parking Lamp/ Directional Signal Lamp. 20 Light Blue, is for the Left Hand Parking Lamp/Directional Signal Lamp.
Note: on the 1967 Model Year, the Parking Lamps go out, when the main Headlights are ON. This is normal for this MY. They still funtion as turn signals with headlights on.
For the '68 MY, by Federal safety mandate, the ''Parking Lamps'' became ''Running Lights" and stayed on with the headlights.
That Dark Blue line is present on my '68 C/10 Stepside

Yes, the fuzzy white [Orange/White/Purple] was the resistor line that splits into a Y on 20Yellow ga. wires, one to the Starter, and one to the [points system] Coil +. With HEI, just tape it off, or delete it.

Ironangel: What's the model number on your Competition Series Carter AFB?
I have a 9625S AFB in 600 CFM on V8 350 on my '71 GMC Jimmy. Bought it new in 1998. [When I rebuilt the L6 292 in my '68 Stepside in 2004, Carter was out of the carburetor business. I had to buy an Edselbrock. EDL 1404, 500 CFM.]
I use the Edelbrock tuning manual, and tune my 9625S as per an EDL-1405. [Both 600 CFM. manual choke]
They were all made in the same factory by Weber. All the Edelbrock-branded parts fit the Carter AFB carb. You can even call Edelbrock Tech Line for tuning tips/troubleshooting... Just don't tell them It's not an Edsel-brock. They get picky then.
Pretend it's a ''Performer'' carb.

I dont have the carb number here, I'll post it tomorrow. I've got the carb dialed in and the motor purring like a kitten. I rebuilt the burnt electronic choke housing when I rebuilt the carb and have it working as well with a jumper wire from the battery. I was wanting to nail down what that small dark blue did or what it was for? There was a fire caused by a leaking fuel line at the carb and burnt all but 24" of the four wire engine harness. I saw the wires you describe in the diagram but the diagram aint jivin with the pic? (bet thats a word you aint heard in a while)
