Vin
Most vin sites tell me this is to short or not correct but its on the title and no harm in asking if anyone knows anything about vins.
K14662137337 Seems there should be a letter in there for the engine just bought it so trying to get an idea what it was. Thx |

K14662137337
K=4WD 14=1/2-Ton, Standard Wheelbase 6=Suburban 6=1966 2= Plant of Manufacture.....I don't know what 2 is, but could be Z =Fremont, CA 137337 = Sequential Serial # Early vin's didn't provide engine size

Re: Vin
Thank you for the quick reply so I can virtually install any of the noted engines for the era. Would it show if it was optioned with the 305 anywhere I'd be happy with the straight 6 HO version..........
Thanks again |

Re: Vin
Can you tell us if this is a Canadian or a US built truck.Just wondering because of your location. Also Chevy or GM.
The number you posted looks like the vin's on both of my Canadian built Chevy's but yours is too short. Canadian vin should look like this 0C2534812xxxB. 0-Year (1960) C-2 wheel drive 2534-Model (3/4 ton long fleet) 8-Number of cylinders 12xxx-Sequential serial number B-GVW

Re: Vin
its the reason i asked as well being a short vin. It's a US model and has been all its life not sure why the vin is short but its right on the title as shown.

Re: Vin
I don't remember exactly, but in 72 the VINs got longer by 1 digit. I think it was really 73ish time frame when the all started going to the 17 digit VIN, when most moved to the dash/windshield area. Prior to that, most all had short VINs like yours.

Re: Vin
Well got a wake up call at the border trying to export this unit to Canada.
The vin was wrong the number 2 should have been a Z as per the vin on the truck which is located at the top of the door opening drivers side. So built in Fresno California 4-6 for new title once sited back in Oregon. Then start all over on the export fun fun fun. |

Re: Build
Starting working on it finally bought all the metal parts and rubbers. Even found a NOS gas pedal. It being a 4X4 it has the bolted unit on the floor not the knobs. Does anyone know if you can buy the rear metal pc at the back door just under the doors? And the rubber that goes between the bumper and the body.
Thanks. Last edited by Slowclimb; 07-24-2018 at 11:31 PM. Reason: adding to it |

Re: Build
using poly bushing seem to be ok for fit and replaced the rockers and some of the floor rad support just need to deal with the horn button and parts seems to be only one year design. Notice the era correct signal lights repair lol. PUsh button left right and cancel in the middle on top the round yellow light showed the flashing......Also the high hump cover replaced.

It is in its original colour as well. There was a plate on the drivers side under the dash with all the colour codes. |

Re: Vin
The cable connection at the top of your pic is for the temp control. I'm not sure how all of this works with a AC truck and heater assembly. I've not really done anything with the factory AC yet.

There is a cable connection in the middle of the flap I'm showing the other one was fine. Thanks for the reply just no idea what the middle flap connection was.

Re: Vin
That's an A/C-only heater box with the extra flaps. Looks like the 3 A/C knobs/cables have been removed from your dash.

Re: Vin
The flap in the middle is a part of the AC controls. One of the 3 AC controls on the dash should connect to that flap. As VictoriaHardware said, your AC controls are missing from the dash.
