Rust Treatment, step by step

I've been reading a few threads about rust treatment and some of the chemicals. I'll be doing a few spots on the cab of my truck next summer when I have time and weather to do it.

por looks like what I'll be using, so how do I use it? I have a couple spots of rust under the drip rail and one under the rear window. Under the drip rail on the driver's side has already resulted in a hole so I know there's more rust between the cab interior and exterior. There's also a dry rust colored water line on the passengerside kick panel that has to be found and dealt with.

The way I understand it, remove as much rust as possible using brushes (of various types that will fit into the smaller areas) and then coat the metal surface with a chemical that will stop the rust from forming anymore and spreading. Do I have this right, or am I missing something? It seems pretty upfront and (somewhat) easy, but I don't want to miss something and have to do it over again later.

Martin,

Just wanted to say Hi! I was born and raised in CA, La Mesa to be exact. Mount Helix area. Saw you were in El Cajon, My folks live there still out by Grossmont College.

Anyhow, I did a 59 Karman Ghia and a 63 kombi and used POR15, stuff worked great, follow the directions and you cant go wrong. I used the metal ready and the degreaser too..
