Rear differential
I am in the process of a frame up restoration, what is the best way to do the rear differential? Attach it all back the frame and then install the axles and third member? Or put it all together then attach it to the frame?

Re: Rear differential
IMO, depends on if you have a lift or not.
Without a lift, if it's off the frame I'd prefer building it on jack stands or a bench. Beats crawling under the truck. If the truck is on a lift I'd rather build the axle on the truck. (I've become so spoiled using lifts that my saying is "If I can't lift it, I don't work on it!) |

Re: Rear differential
Third member... are you installing a 9" or a D60?
If I have the rear end out of the truck, I assemble it on a set of sturdy saw horses and then install the whole thing under the rig at once. Gary
