Two car garages

I have a two car garage and live in a typical subdivision so I do not have much room to work in my garage. Again, I have a typical two car garage with my truck taking up half and the other side is tool box, woodworking tools, fridge, and bikes.
I thought it would bee interesting to see some of y'alls two car garage set ups. And maybe some of y'all with big nice shops too for fun. And maybe how y'all were able to restore and work with limited space. Here's my situation.

Your garage doesn't have enough room on either side of the doors.

I don't have any real pics of my garage as it is piled with all kinds of junk and is literally like stepping on oddly placed stones to walk around in PLUS the truck.

You have to get creative when it comes to storage....I have big plans once I get my truck running and able to move.....

A shed is I my to do, and try to fund, list in the near future.
Yes, my parent's bought it in 73. I was born in 79 so this truck took me to my first fishing trips, hunting trips, baseball games, ect. He gave it to me in June of 07 and we were planning on rebuilding it with the money I had saved. He suggested waiting till the fall so it wouldn't be so hot. We live in Texas so it doesn't cool off till November some years. But he passed away unexpectedly on August 2nd that year.
Lots of memories were made in these seats.

I don't even have a typical 2-car garage. That is why my '67 project is on hold and I just keep the '72 going for now, outside. I haven't had funds to build anything and at this point I don't want to live here long enough to bother if money did come. I did have a barn I rented but the place got sold.

The only picture I see sideways is in Post #4.

I am not moving anytime soon. This will be our forever home. Unfortunately the garage isn't very big. My last garage had about two feet on each side of the garage door. The bad part is my driveway is steep so I can't roll it in and out to work on it. Hmmm.

I've got that same fridge in my shop ( 3 car extra wide/deep w/ 3 8 foot doors ). Bought it nearly 15 years ago and it's going strong still today. My 3 year old Samsung has been repaired under warranty once and is now broken and out of warranty.

Just like our trucks, they don't make 'em like they used to.

I moved from a 6 car behind the house garage (and a one car on the house for her car) to a 2 car on the house. I miss that 6 car garage every day. Course, that 6 car was full of cars that are also gone. Retirement sucks! Plan ahead. I didn't.

Very similar to my story. My dad bought my truck new off the lot in 1972 for $2,300.00 ($400.00 off after threatening to go to a larger car lot). I was born 2 years later.

He drove it and used it continuously until 1994 when he gave it to me. I had little use for a truck so basically it has been parked in a garage since then. It has a lot of rust from those years of use but I am slowly fixing that.

I am at the "new radiator" stage now, I bought all new hoses and changed oil & filter yesterday. If I can just get it running before winter I will be happy so that next year I can get it on the road.

I built a 10x12 shed to store stuff in. Its amazing once you get the bikes and the kids toys out of the garage it gets a lot bigger. The shed was also helpful once I started buying parts to put my truck back together. It was like my own little parts shop. I was able to remove hood, fenders, doors, etc paint prep them, then store them in the shed.

I have a slight incline to my driveway outside the garage. When the cars don't run under their own power I use a winch to pull them back into the garage. That way I can sand/grind/paint in the driveway, then put a tow strap on it and winch it back into the (clean) garage.

I have a two car garage. Fortunately, it's a little bit wider on one side, so there's room for some tool storage. Unfortunately, I've got way more tools than I have room for. I got the idea to get some rolling metal shelves from Costco and that's at least given me enough room to start working on the Blazer. Once I get the Blazer done and out I plan to get everything organized in there.

Dad's 72 - I have the same problem with a steep driveway, and I'm often working on vehicles (mine and other peoples') that don't run. I got tired of having to find a crew to push vehicles up my driveway, so I drilled an anchor bolt into the far end of my garage. I can attach a come-along and pull cars up the driveway by myself now.

67ChevyRedneck, is that Firebird a 67 or 68? Either way, I'd love to have one. *Never mind, I just read your signature. As the old saying goes, a rusty chicken in the garage is worth a dozen in the want ads.

I know how you feel. I have this truck addiction and I'm retired. I grew up with my father's 2 car garage and we had to move everything out to use it.
Now I end up the same thing, The first picture is my garage now and the second one is my father's with his model T in the top left, my sister's VW and my '40 pickup

I'm too embarrassed to post a pic of the inside of my garage.
Mine is 25x25 and we actually use it for 2 cars! The C10 has one side and our newest car (2014) the other. I put a natural gas unit heater in there and it was a big improvement.
My family has a total of 5 cars so 3 of 'em just have to live outside. Too bad for them!

That is a very interesting idea. Could you post a picture of how you bolted the anchors? I would like to entertain that idea of a winch to move it in and out to pull parts off and grind clean.

My development has fairly strict HOA rules, so I can only work on my truck in the garage. It's a 2 car garage with an extra few feet to one side for an entry door. With a workbench between the windows, the truck sits pretty much in the center of the garage door when I'm working on it (which is most of the time) so it's essentially a wide one car garage. Lengthwise, the truck originally would fit with 2" to spare, which is why I converted it to a shortbed . Now I can walk around it! Behind me in this pic is about a 3' deep pile of toys, strollers, powerwheels, etc.. Maybe one day when the kids outgrow this stuff I will convert that side to my toolbox/bench space.

Awesome thread, I think my garage is the smallest 2 car garage allowed by law! I'll post pics later. I painted the Hugger orange '72 in my garage and almost every tool I own has some orange on it.

For some great garages and shops check out Garage Journal. Some of those guys have more storage than would fit in my 20X20 and still have room for whatever they do. Some have complete woodshops, others auto shops. Some budget Idea and high dollar both. You will have garage envy.
