Re: factory am/fm truck radio
Here's a source for USA made replacement speaker. I've used the speaker and the sound quality is good: http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm

Re: factory am/fm truck radio
Agree. Greg has refurbished a total of four fm radios for me and I have purchased one of his slimline speakers for use in my current Blazer build, which makes use of an under the dash external speaker.

Re: factory am/fm truck radio
Deadheadnm, I know you're a purist so what speaker do you buy for the underdash as I still have the original? Do you take the original speaker grille off and just mount it to the new speaker? I just picked up an original truck am fm off ebay pretty cheap and am sending it to Greg to go through. Powers up but wont make sound...unknown if its a ground issue or not...original am worked and wasnt attached with the bracket in the back.

Re: factory am/fm truck radio
I bought the slim line oval speaker after speaking with Greg. I don't have it mounted yet with the grill - I'll mock it up tonight and post a pic here as an edit. Stay tuned. Looked to be a good match/fit. BTW - I had Greg add coaxial jacks to my FM radios so I can plug in an iPod.
Edit: slim line oval speaker for use in k5s with double wall top. Excellent fit with original grill. OEM speaker on top grill mounted to Gregs speaker below. NOTE this is NOT the correct speaker for a pickup OR k5s w a single wall top.

Re: factory am/fm truck radio
Thanks for the info Pete, I sent mine off just to go through it. Ill probably buy a speaker as well and use my grille cover. May have him make longer speaker and power wires so I can plug the radio in while still in the glovebox opening. Its a pia trying to plug it in while where it needs to be. God I hate installing these ...so tight!
