guys with 17 x 8s on a 60s stepside need some advice
I'm looking at a set of 17x8 with 4.5" backspacing on my 1966 stepside.
will these tuck in the rear fenders and what tire size are you running? My truck is lowered 5" or more so these will be inside the fenders.

Re: guys with 17 x 8s on a 60s stepside need some advice
I'm running 18x9s with 4.5" backspace and 275 tires with not a lot of clearance but it's there. I also want to note that I had to roll the lip of the fender for clearance, I used a 1.75" diameter tube and an old tire to achieve that. That setup you should see more clearance between the outside of the fender and the tire than the inside. Even autocrossing my truck, I have no significant rub marks on the bedsides and no evidence of rubbing on the fenders.
