Free Blazer!
I was given a free K5 today. It is an early model & the tub is almost rotted off. It has an np 203 / t350.
I was gonna rob the spring hangers & axles for a 2wd to 4wd conversion on a truck I have then had a brainstorm! (Fart?) I got an '85 C10 lwb with a good cab & a short wide bed around here somewhere. I could use the cab but the bed will be long in the front. Anybody ever shorten the front of a bed? I thought about a flatbed but I dunno. Thanks |

Re: Free Blazer!
Are you wanting to take the k5 frame and make it a pickup?

Re: Free Blazer!
I think it looks better with some sort of tube structure or flat bed instead of a really short fleet side bed. But it is your ride, do what makes you happy. I cut down my long bed to a short bed and it really wasn't hard to do.

Re: Free Blazer!
Back during our dog hunting days my son & I built several Blazer pickups by cutting the whole top & cab back from a pickup & welding it onto the blazer. Didn't want to carry them stinkin dogs inside with us!
But this truck aint got enough to work with for that. But I think a nice flat bed on the rear may still be the way to go. Want to build a truck for my grandson before he gets outta high school & want something a little different this time! |

Re: Free Blazer!
I know where a good Blazer tub is, that is about 2 hours away from you that a guy is parting out.

Re: Free Blazer!
It's an 88-89. I bought doors, front cap, transfer case and seats from him.
I think it was a 350/700 with 3.08s |

Re: Free Blazer!
This might work out great. My mom has my step dad's suburban for sale that's got the late 4 headlight grill in it. I can get the front cap & doors from it & sell off the rest. It's a big block!
