'65 Impala SS 409

I finally got pictures of the '65 409. Someone asked price - The fella wants $6500 for it. Says numbers match and that its in good shape (yeah, I know...they ALL say that).

Says it needs a paint job.

This is in Charlottesville, VA. @ 1/2 hours south of D.C., and one hour west of Richmond.

His phone number is in the pictures, area code is 434.

Man the car looks clean....it looks like it might have been repainted...seems abit much if it's w/o motor...but a good deal if everything is intact and matching.

I love those cars.

409

'65 was the last year for the 409. The 396 came out that year and was more popular.

I had a 1963 Impala 409 325 horse. Is that one 325 horse or the 375 horse one? One thing bad about 409's is they had weak connecting rods. The high horse ones are harder to find because they usually ended up with a rod out the side of the block from high rpm running.

if you are selling a car, at least clean the mud off the tires and make it look presentable, a few minutes with armour all and a vacum would make it look a hell of a lot better

Since it has an automatic it must have the 340 hp motor I think the 400 hp was a 4 speed only option. I want my 65 SS back too

It wasn't me!

Just to make sure there are no misunderstandings here...

I am NOT selling this car. I don't know the fella who is. I spoke with him briefly to ask if it was OK to take pictures to post here. He offered a "finders fee" if this helps sell it that I immediately declined. I told him I was only letting people who might be interested know that it is available. I have NO financial interest in this car.

If I had a shop, more time, and didn't have a pay cut this year I might give it a go at restoring it, but thats not the case. So, I posted the pictures in case anyone is interested. Thats the extent of my association with this car.

I'll be off the board for a few days - no laptop to log on with when I'm on the road.

Just didn't want any misunderstandings.

Error in first post

ttt

First post says C'ville is @ 1/2 hours south of D.C. I hit the shift key by accident. SHOULD READ: C'ville is 2 1/2 hours south of D.C.

Boy that reminds me of our old 66 SS but ours only had a 327 4barrel and 2 spd powerglide. If I could find that car again I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.

Did the motor look like this? It could be a 348 or a 409. They both had similar valve covers. Some of the experts could probably tell the difference. My buddy is building this 348 for his hot rod.
