72 jimmy questions

i found a 72 jimmy that is complete, but has rust in a door pillar for $1500. the guy wants to keep the engine that it has and will give me another one in it's place. so what do you all think? i am planning on going saturday to have a looksee, anything i should look out for? what should i look for in the vin that will tell me what engine it had? what are problem areas that i should focus on. thanks in advance

The VIN won't tell you what engine it had...just what kind.
If it is a 4X4, then the first 2 digits would be KS for an inline, or KE for a small block.
I would imagine in your part of the country, you should be able to find something without rust...at least, nothing in a structural area.
