Has anyone mounted their radio antenna on driver side of cowl?
I am thinking of doing something custom and was wondering if anyone has. Mounted their antenna in the same spot as factory just on the driver side? Any issues with glare or vision? Just wanted to check before I commit to it. Also if you have a picture of it that would help as well. Thanks in advance.

I would suspect that would impede vision.

Re: Has anyone mounted their radio antenna on driver side of cowl?
Actually, most things on the driver side allow for better vision, if you ask me. Not that a skinny antenna blocks much anywhere . On my first vehicles I put them on the driver side, don't recall my thinking. Then I went on the right just to be where factory mounts them. I always wondered why and figured just a cleaner path since instruments and controls are on the left. I guess it would be right there staring at you in the corner of your eye on the driver side. Never occurred to me back then, but nothing bothered me when I was young the way some things can now. One thing for sure, we are all used to them being on the right

Mine is on the drivers side and has been there since I got it in the '80s. One reason for mounting on the left is an attempt to reduce breakage by delinquent kids walking down the side walk. One reason power antennas are so popular.

I agree with leaving it as is, but I'm left eye dominant. Makes a difference.

Re: Has anyone mounted their radio antenna on driver side of cowl?
I mounted my AM/FM antenna on the drivers side on my '67 K/10 Suburban. My reason was to be clear of the CB whip antenna on the passenger side rear. Obviously done a long time ago.

maybe it has something to do with electrical interfearance with all of the electrical components on the driver side. or maybe draping the antenna cable through all the moving bits on the driver side would cause something to get caught up and jam.

Re: Has anyone mounted their radio antenna on driver side of cowl?
I wanted to add a power antenna. That is my reason for swapping sides. With the a/c stuff on the passenger side there is no room for it. It's nicer to clean windows with the antenna down. Any pictures out there?

I'm still considering this. Any pictures of trucks with driver side antennas out there?

I'm removing mine, I'd rather have a smooth look.

There is if you remove the floor vent which is useless when you have ac anyway and is a rust trap.

Mine was mounted on the driver side originally. Thought it was kind of odd. .Never drove it bought as a basket case. When it goes back together it will be on pass. side. My ol s- 10 I frenched the antennae behind the door.
