lokar pedal assembly question
I have a 68 C-10 cab, firewall holes have all been filled.
I've noticed there is a different locker pedal assembly for 67-70 and 71-72. The 71-72 seems to be a cleaner install as there is no outer plate on the firewall. My question, is why are they built slightly different? Anyone know if its because of factor firewall holes or to correct an alignment issues with the carb? I like to install of the 71-72, but i don't want to order it if it's going to cause me headaches. Anyone have knowledge or experience here? Thanks in advance! David |

Re: lokar pedal assembly question
The mounting between the two pedals (67-70 rod) (71-72 cable) is different.

Yes, I’m aware of that. But if my firewall has already had all holes fillled and I like the way the 71-72 polar pedal mounts, can I use it and cut the hole I need for the cable or is there some other reason such as alignment with carb that I should stick with the 67-70 version on a 68 cab?

Re: lokar pedal assembly question
I just installed one in my '67 the other day. The 71-72 pedal uses all three bolts. The 67-70 only uses 2 holes and the third(top right from seat) is is just filled with a short bolt.
Check out the instruction sheet...top page is early, bottom is later https://checkout.speedwaymotors.com/...structions.pdf The picture on speedway for the early (XBAG-6164) on speedway is wrong, it's the later one pictured. I did switch mine over to a cable with the early pedal, just had to drill out the pedal arm slightly.

Re: lokar pedal assembly question
Also, On the instructions....You'll notice the big hole below where they're drilling the hole for the early pedal...That's your rear harness firewall bulkhead...The pedal arm will bottom out on the wiring there. So that's kind of crappy...lol

That make any sense? I really appreciate everyone’s replies just trying to be sure before I place an orderFor something that I can’t use at that type of cost. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: lokar pedal assembly question
You say your firewall has been filled, but have the mounting nuts been removed? Technically, other than the factory holes not lining up, there's no particular reason you can't use the 71-72 assembly. Just keep in mind you will have to make some modifications to make it work. As for lining up with the carb, it's a cable operated system and the cable is lined up by the bracket that attaches to the carb, so the orientation of the cable from the firewall is less important.

Re: lokar pedal assembly question
If you have a blank slate and are starting from scratch, you can use whatever pedal you want. It really doesn't matter what you use if you've smoothed the whole firewall.
