What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
Bought this steel floor bed to replace my wood floor bed. What auxiliary tank fits?
Where can I get one? Thanks

Re: What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
Those are generally for dealer installed saddle tanks - one brand of aftermarket tanks was TravelTanks. Here's some GM info:

Re: What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
ditto. Only one I've seen with a sending unit from the factory in 67-72 is the NL2 upper driver's bedside single aux tank - BUT, that GM aux tank instruction sheet circa 1970 sure seems to indicate there was such a thing... The little aux tank switch above the left a/c vent on an NL2 truck is what switches 2 sender sources - but I've also seen three-ways. I'm hoping to someday figure out a way to stick modified correct-ohm sending units (if there are any left in the world) in my saddle tanks to be able to switch between all 3 - even have a travel tanks switch somewhere, I think... Could be a job, but very worthwhile. I'm not a "wait til it dies then switch the mech valve while coasting" sorta guy, although it's been done for ages.

Re: What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
the sending units are available for those tanks, Summit carries them, they are the 90 ohm ones for our old trucks...I installed them in my saddle tanks....and to where you can get those tanks, check craigslist or parts for sale on this site, or swap meets...they are no longer made.and I am only running saddle tanks, I removed the seat tank, and I used a electric solenoid valve from a mid seventies truck to switch the tanks from left to right

Re: What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
Got a line on one locally...because i am LS swapped I am going to run 2 fuel pumps on the rail...I have one on the stock tank now and will put a 2nd one on the Auxiliary tank. Just need to switch the returns back to the correct tank with an electric valve.

Re: What auxiliary tank fits this fuel door?
All the trucks I've had with add-on saddle tanks have had functioning gauges. My current '72 GMC has a 3-way toggle switch marked Left/Main/Right to control feed to the gauge.
It wouldn't be hard for a "good welder" to fab a fresh new tank if a good used one can't be found

El Dorado Jim, >> The sending units are available for those tanks, Summit carries them, they are the 90 ohm ones for our old trucks...I installed them in my saddle tanks....and I am only running saddle tanks, I removed the seat tank, and I used a electric solenoid valve from a mid seventies truck to switch the tanks from left to right.<<
Bingo! My plan exactly. Would love the Summit part number to finish doing the very same. The tanks have been hanging there for years, but stopped using them when the lines went bad and I removed the valve. Heaven help you if you forgot which tank you were running on when it ran dry. I recently installed an '80s switch, wiring and solenoid valve. Now I need the sending units and replace those ugly old doors. Then, out with the cab tank. Thanks, Jocko for posting those scans.
