Clutch & Pressure Plate?
I have 63 C10 with a 230 engine. I need to replace the pressure plate. The one that's in it is the 10" clutch and pressure. The pressure plate has a bunch of those finger things in the center of it and someone told me a 3 finger is better. The only 3 fingers I can find start at 11" to 12". Can I replace my 10" with either a 11 or 12 inch?????

three arm plates borg and beck style
the one you have is diaphragm style borg and beck are often touted as better performance however high performance models of each are bountiful.. for good performance, drivability, and economy, I'd look at centerforce.. put one in my last manual and it was a measurable upgrade.. good luck! |

Behind a 230 a 10" diaphram style will be just fine. And easier pedal pressure too.

The diaphragm clutch is much better then the old 3 finger type.

Yep, 3 finger clutches are for those who love the challenge of keeping the pedal depressed thru a long light. I had one and hated it. I swapped it for the diaphragm style. Much better.

Some diaphragm clutches as I remember have a raised portion close to the center where the throwout bearing rides. Those will take a flat bearing. If the fingers are straight all the way then that pressure plate takes a bearing with a convex bearing surface. Just be sure you get the right bearing for the corresponding plate. Could be I am thinking on other brands here though. Diaphragm clutches are way smoother in my experience.
