It can't be this difficult, what am I missing here???
Trying to remove the transmission crossmember. All fasteners are out but it fits tight in the frame rails. Tried beating one side forward, one side aft, no luck. The frame seems to widen a little as you go forward so I knocked it forward as far as I could then tried knocking one side aft, still not happening. What is the secret to getting this out? I don't want to cut it up, even though I have an ECE one ready to go in. Any tips appreciated!

That didn't work for me. I beat the p*ss out of it. It got to a point, then wouldn't move any more.

Try pry it up off the frame and knocking it forward.

Get some kind of bottle jack and some 4x4 blocks, turn the jack sideways in between the frame rails and slowly widen the frame until you can turn the crossmember sideways and slide it out. Dont jack too much, dont want to tweek the frame anymore than you have to.
