R&R Grill and Radiator Support Swapping GMC to Chevy

I just recently picked up a donor truck to make my 1969 Chevy K10 look like a Chevy again instead of a GMC. ANY and ALL advice is greatly appreciated so thank you in advance! Swapping out grill and radiator support (can this be done with them bolted together and where are all the bolts located?) also tailgate, hood and emblems. I know many of you have done complete resto's and are very knowledgeable on this. I looked for a thread that would help me out but still have questions. I will be doing this by myself unless absolutely needing help like with the hood swap.

You will need to change the fenders to GMC fenders are the same as 67-68 Chevy

Thanks but mine are both 1969's and my research on repo fenders show 1969-72 Chevy and GMC uses the exact same part numbers. I understand 1967-68 are different because of the sloping on the front of the hoods. I only need to swap the radiator supports (due to headlight buckets) and grills and was wondering if they need to be done separately or can they come out as one piece?

1968-1972 gmc's use the same fenders as a 1968 chevy (edge is rounded). 1969-1972 chevy has a double "step"

Upon closer examination, you are correct! So NOW I will be doing a complete front clip swap and losing my nice maroon painted fenders for primed ones until I can spring for a paint job. I may attempt painting it myself in the spring/summer 2018. Oh well the hood and tailgate are primed too.

I truly believe that folks that convert GMC’s to C-10’s will grow to regret their decision one day ! It’s not just the build ratio either ! All I know is that there is a lot more C-10’s running around today compared to GMC. When ever I am out with my 71 people never stop complimenting it. The stainless grill questions start immediately as do about the four headlights. I really do appreciate the looks of the slope nose C-10’s but would never alter one into a GMC....just my 2cents....

You may get lucky. If the truck was originally a Chevy, you *can* redneck the fat GMC trim over the 69-72 Chevrolet fenders.

The 69-72 chevrolet fender is "notched" for the grill to fit over.

Yeah that is what I was hoping for as the corner pieces have stainless screws holding them on but... I guess it was just some backwoods redneck (no offense 67ChevyRedneck) taking a short cut by not buying the clips! I verified the whole front clip needs swapped!

It's a 1969 Chevy C20 Long Bed with the 307/350 combo.

Probably had a hard frontal impact and the p.o. switched out everything from the fenders forward to 71 or 72 GMC. I understand wanting a chevy to be a chevy, but that thing looks so bad ass I couldn't bring myself to change it. But I may be biased.

Edit: Possibly doors also, cuz you have 70-72 sport mirrors too.
Edit again: I see the 69 chevy has the sport mirrors also

Oh trust me, I've been back and forth on this for quite some time now and thank you! Now that I'm retired (bored) I decided to go for it! Once I'm completely done with new paint I'm sure I'll be happy but until then I'll probably be questioning myself!

Edit 1: Yep, it's all 71 including the cab except the front bumper is Chevy.
Edit 2: Yep again... Still has the holes for the 69 large C20 swing out mirrors.

Soooo the P O really did a number on it. It has a reconstructed title NOT a savage title!

Well in my case I'm going back to the Chevy that it is! I do have to admit the dual headlights are a nice look and I have gotten lots of thumbs up and comments with it looking like a GMC. It will be interesting to see if that response changes once it looks like a '69 Chevy again versus a '71 GMC.
