Looks pretty nice, even still has the original 1970 grill instead of the 1969 replacement.

Great looking truck. Looks like a huge tank. Any idea how far a tank would get you and what it will cost to fill?

Thanks guys!

Yukon, I don't know, but I’m anxious to find out. I don't know what kind of mileage to expect either. I know propane burns cleaner and more efficiently, but will it improve mileage? Wouldn't a trip to the gas station once a month be wonderful?

CPNE, it may look nicer than your latest acquisition, but it wasn't free either. Free goes along way..........

Nice score!!!
Propane does burn cleaner, but in my experiences, it doesn't offer any better mileage. My ol man has been in the propane business for 35 years and all our vehicles once ran on dual fuel. It's nice to see such a clean truck and it has a nicely modified inline 6 still in it

BTW... whatever happened with the truck you bought from Tracy? do you still have it or did you end up selling?

I believe from talking to people over here that have converted to run on propane that you get slightly worse mileage than on gas, but you will find your oil remains clean for much longer.

In the Uk there are tax breaks that make it a much cheaper fuel than gas, about half the price currently with a pledge from the government to keep the tax static on it for the next five years.

Sweet truck!

Propane has less thermal energy than gasoline.....there are less BTU's in a gallon of propane than in a gallon of gasoline, so it will take more propane to produce the same power as gas, so the fuel economy won't be as good. Isn't propane like $.60 a gallon though?

Propane runs $1.20-$1.40 /gal range. I heat with it and it may be more this year. Not sure if you pay highway taxes on propane like gasoline......

dubie, I sold Tracy's '70 to a buddy of mine in TX. I paid off the legal settlement, and am back in the saddle again.

I'm learning a little about the propane from you guys. I'll let you all know what my results are, pros and cons after I drive it a while.

Thanks for all the comments!

I had a friend run propane on his 3/4 pulled a large gooseneck with it as well,, that engine lasted 300K + several transmissions and rearends later... the only trouble he had back then was long trips and finding fuel,, and he had a lot of trouble running it back on gas, if he didn't want to burn propane or low on it.. I've thought about it a lot, but the cost of tank and the fuel is not cheap anymore.. and milage is less with propane, even though better on your engine.. havent figured out the ROI on it.. good luck,, looks like a nice truck,,
