1965 c10 big block radiator supports

Hello,

Doing a 350 swap in my 65 c10. Someone gave me a big block radiator support. It came with the top bracket which is the correct depth of the radiator. The big block radiator seems to be wider and does not fit between the frame rails.

the frame has two supports that are two narrow. Anyone know if I will be fabricating the support? Also, anyone know of a source for the thicker rubber inserts.

Thanks for any help.

Re: 1965 c10 big block radiator supports

There is no such thing as a big block radiator for a '63-'66 truck. They never came from the factory with a big block.

The radiators available for the '63-'66 trucks are the standard 6cyl radiator that is a 2 row core and it sits on the radiator crossmember down on the lower ledge between the frame. The other radiators are the 6cyl with heavy duty cooling and V8 (Small block) radiators that are available in a 2 row core, 3 row core and a 4 row core. These radiators all sat on the top ledge of the radiator crossmember which is also on top of the frame. There are 3 different top radiator hold downs. One for the standard 6cyl radiator. One for the HD cooling/V8 radiator with the 2 and 3 row core. And yet another for the 4 row core.

If you are in need of changing to saddles to accommodate a wider radiator tank, you will need to either find good used ones or fabricate your own. As for the top hold downs, I believe one of the big name restoration parts suppliers are offering reproductions for the 2/3 and 4 core radiators. I just don't remember which one it was. A search on here should get you the name.
