New girl won't run
Ok , I guess I just need a little advice. Tried starting my 66c10 283, Qjet yesterday. Started up idled for about 15 sec. Stalled. Started again same thing. If I give her gas during this idle she stalls . Tried this about 20 times could not keep her running. Any advice? Thanks

Re: New girl won't run
My guess is fuel, something not fully processing the fuel right. Might have a sticky valve or float in the qjet.

Re: New girl won't run
Thanks Bill was thinking that myself . Needed a little reassurance this morning. This Q jet has been giving issues. I rebuilt it but just can't get it to function properly. Air mixture screws don't seem to do anything.

Re: New girl won't run
Adjust your choke.
And increase your initial timing. |

Re: New girl won't run
Thanks for the info SirJim I will read it. This 283 has a divorced choke system. It looks a little shabby to me. Can I just disconnect that and connect the manual choke cable. If so any particular way to connect it?

Easy to do on a hot air or electric choke carb with a manual choke kit that replaces the black cap. Or get creative and adapt a bell crank to make a divorced choke carb work. I’ve done all those. The bell crank took a bit more experimentation though. |
