Getting my Grandpas Truck
I remember every Summer as a child our family would make the drive from Arizona to Idaho to visit my Grandparents. They lived on a farm and he also had a cattle ranch a couple hours away. When we pulled up to their house I would see grandpas 2 tone blue and white GMC. He had it from new in 1979 (the year I was born) till he died in 1998. I remember going on drives in the truck with a trailer behind hauling cattle to the ranch or to auction. Many fond memories. When he died the truck went to my uncle who also farmed. I graduated from high school, got married, and stopped making trips to Idaho. I figured the truck just got used on the farm until it wasn't worth fixing and was disposed of. Well, earlier this month my Mom was visiting my Uncle and he asked if I was interested in the truck. They ended up not using it much but it has been neglected quite a bit. I said yes, of course, and have arranged shipping to Arizona. I know it will be a "project" but am excited to get it on the road again. Look forward to getting advice and info from this forum.

What a nice truck you have there. I am a purist and like to see the trucks restored to their former glory. Looks like the truck is in really good shape for its age. There are many suppliers of parts for these trucks. Good luck with your truck.

Your truck looks pretty good to have been a ranch hand. Get it going and enjoy it!!

Re: Getting my Grandpas Truck
Nothing better than reviving Grandpa's truck. Good luck with the build. I am sure you will enjoy it.... and hate it a few times during the build.
