Linakge help

I am putting in a auto column tomorrow in the 68. Does this linkage setup look right? This may seem crazy but it seems to easy?

Thanks

Well it looks like it will work except for the way you have the rod.

I just put that on there and got it tight enough to hold it up. Is there anything else that I may be missing?

thanks

Do you have the steering shaft and the linkage from the trans to the frame?

My doubt is about this
Do you have the steering shaft and the linkage from the trans to the frame?

Ok let me give more deatils. This truck was originally a 3 on the tree. Previous owner dropped in a 400 turbo and put in a floor shifter. What I want to do is make it auto on the column. I have the auto column and a linkage that I got from Kugel. I am not 100% sure I know what a steering shaft is. Can you describe what it looks like?

Thanks I will understand this one way or another

The shaft I am referring to is the one that the steering wheel fits on and runs through the column to the steering box.

Do you mean this? BTW I am about to paint it so please excuse the scratch marks. I used some sand paper to get some gunk off of it.

No, it's the round shaft that is on the inside of that that the steering wheel is bolted to and the other end has the spring and washer and clamp on it, that attaches to the collapsable double D shaft that connects to the steering box.

Well, do you have the part that slides through the column that has the threads on it? Or is that the only things you have in the pics?

Ok, its the solid steel shaft that goes through your column, through the hole that is in your last pic.

And another one. See the nut on the end of the column? That is the shaft I am referring to, also the spring in front of the small shaft is needed plus a large flat washer to hold the lower bearing in the bottom of the column.

Well looks like I am going to have to get one unless I can use the one that would come out of the original 3 speed.

I'm not 100% sure if they are the same size but I think that the 3-speed shaft might work, also do you have the shift lever? Because I think that they are different also.

Also from what I can tell, you'll need the bearings for the top and bottom of the column.
