blower resistor problem
I have a 1979 chevy k10, shortbed, 4x4, with 400 sbc and it's been a great truck for 40 years. All original with 51,00 miles on it. Decided to put in a new blower resistor. Truck heater fan always ran on low when you turned on the key, however with this new resistor when you turn key on the fan is running in high. Is it the wrong resistor? it looked correct. Can I run the truck by just disconnecting this at the blower?

Re: blower resistor problem
Is it possible you reinstalled the connector upside down?

Re: blower resistor problem
Only one way to connect the plug to the 3 prongs. Is there a difference when you put it in the blower? will go in either way.

Re: blower resistor problem
I don't know, it just sounded to me like your high fan speed wire is connected to the Lo speed terminal which is on all the time.
If you have a 73 or 74 make sure you don't have the cold selector slider all the way to the left or it will be in max mode which I think makes the fan run high all the time. I used to have a 74 back in the early eighties and that's the way I remember it worked but I am not 100 percent positive.

Re: blower resistor problem
I'm not sure about your current problem of running on high.
But your fan running on low all the time is actually intentional, to circulate air in the cab. It was designed that way.
