Anybody parting out a 64-66 junk cab? Dash part needed.
The previous owner of my '64 hacked the speaker grill area of my dash by drilling and cutting it for a 6x9 speaker. I am looking for a section of the dash that has the speaker perforations. The section needs to be a square, cut at least 2" around the outer edges of the perforations.
Because the truck is original and I don't want to cut, weld, and bodywork the dash, I am planning to build a low-profile speaker grille with a factory look. Let me know what you've got. I can either purchase it from you, or if you're looking for something that I have, trade. Thanks! Alex Welsh (chevyrestoguy)

i think it would be easier to replace whole dash ?? id be afraid that a weld in piece would warp? the truck probably needs a new windshield gasket ?? good luck !

Could use 3M panel adhesive to install it. Cut it flush on dash surface, use a small metal piece under seam, installed with the 3M panel adhesive. You can leave a small amount of adhesive on dash surface at seam. After dry, sand smooth.
The dash patch and underneath metal piece can be held in place to dry with small screws. Test fit to see how many screws are needed to align it. Once dry remove the screws and fill holes with the 3M adhesive. Les |

Re: Anybody parting out a 64-66 junk cab? Dash part needed.
I don't want to replace the dash, as this one isn't a restoration. Other than the previous owner's hack job, the dash is in great shape, and it's an A/C dash. My plan is to use the existing bolt holes that he drilled for the grille and make my own grill that exactly matches the original perforations. I plan to cut the repair section in the shape of a speaker grill and bond it to an 1/8" aluminum frame that's drilled and tapped for 10/32 attach studs. The finished product will have no visible bolts, will be color matched to the dash color, and appear like a floating section of the original speaker perforation. Trying to be stealthy and not do any more cutting or drilling. The previous owner LOVED to drill holes to mount stuff. I'm trying to hide them!!
