Rockers body line.
While messing around I started looking at the rockers on the '62. Held up a replacement to see where to cut. Low and behold there is a body line. Is this on knee knocker cabs? The replacements don't have this speed bump. Not rusty but damaged over the years.

Re: Rockers body line.
All 60-66 rocker panels are identical. You'll discover aftermarket/reproduction panels are not always exact reproductions of originals.

Re: Rockers body line.
I have two aftermarket cab corner patch panels. The Triplus brand has nice defined contours similar to the original. The Counterpart brand is very under shaped.
The stores that sell either will tell you they are all the same. Some will only sell Triplus because of the superior shaping.

Re: Rockers body line.
Related to this, probably discussed on here at some point. Who supplies the best sheet metal parts?

Re: Rockers body line.
I got the OER ones. Suppose to be top notch, maybe other gm approved but for our trucks it just more money for box
I checked, the parts themselves are Tri plus

Re: Rockers body line.
ALL reproduction sheet metal comes from China. Their quality control is sporadic, and is hit and miss. Tri Plus and the others are importers/distributors, they manufacture nothing.

However they do it, Triplus puts their sticker on the nicely shaped patch panels, and counterpart puts their sticker on the poorly shaped pieces.

Re: Rockers body line.
If you check the UPC code that’s on every part, you’ll see it has a country of origin code. And that country of origin code is China, every part. If you email or call Tri Plus or any other distributor, they will tell you they import all sheet metal.

Re: Rockers body line.
So what to do? (where are we supposed to get repo rockers that are even close to fitting) I purchased a pair for my 63 and they were not even close.
Knowing now what I did not then- I should have just cut out the portions of damage and made my own patches or carved up the replacements rockers to patch my damage. As it stands now, I totally removed both rockers by drilling out spot welds ( now I cant find anything that will fit decent) |

Re: Rockers body line.
Like mentioned earlier in the thread, try to a set of TriPlus or Goodmark labeled rockers. They’ll probably need some reshaping where they meet the A pillar but other than that should fit decent.
What’s wrong with the ones you have exactly? Any pics? |

Re: Rockers body line.
I got rocker panels and front fenders from LMC truck The fit was fair I believe most of the problem is the metal they're made from the original parts were made from 16 gauge and was softer the new stuff is thiner but is stiffer and after stamping it springs back especially with the rocker panels I believe even if you had a set of original rockers you would have to do some massaging to get them to fit properly some of the companies handle the seconds and thirds as a rule I think LMC trucks do not carry the firsts if I were to do it again I would try try plus
