Picked up a 327 today

Don't know what it is out. Has the casting #'s for a 64-67 327. Double hump heads and was supposedly rebuilt with about 30,000 miles on it. It seems pretty clean inside and the spark plugs were clean, just dark brown but not oil fouled. I kind of like the old School M/T valve covers.

Very nice! I’ve been wanting something like that to fall into my lap.

Are the numbers still stamped in front of the passenger side head on the block? They can be traced to tell what it was from.

I will have to take a look.

Well for sure it is going into my Green truck. The 283 that is in there is pretty tired. I was going to rebuild the 283 but not I don't have to be in a hurry to do it.

Ok so there was some stamping on the front of the block. didn't see it until I cleaned it. It is stamped FI026HB. That is all that is up there. From what I could get from the web is it is for a full size or Camaro, either 275 or 300 HP.

Re: Picked up a 327 today

I have a 327 out of a 1965 corvette in my 65 C10. Nice find let me know if you need any info as i have done quite a it of research finishing building mine and adapting it to the truck. F is for Flint Michigan, 10 is October, 26th day, HB is the car it was in and the specificity of the motor. Need to look up on the web to find exactly what HB was. Mine is an HK 1965 Corvette.

I just checked the corvette site and it is not from a vette. No HB codes on vettes. They start with HE.

Re: Picked up a 327 today

Check the casting date. If it is correct for a 1965 model year it was originally a 300 hp 327. That is more than likely what it is since it has the double hump heads. Should be either 461 or 462 castings.

65 impala 327 also came with camel heads, single exhaust, Rochester 4gc, 250 hp. I have one, numbers matching.
