Hood won't "fit"!!!!

Just got my 74 K5 Blazer back on the road after a years resto. Last thing I did was put on the hood. It fit OK before I did body work and paint but now I can't get the rear to lay down far enough. The front is fine. I've dropped the hinges as far as they'll go and even took them off and hogged the adjusting holes out for more drop. Still won't lay down. I think the hinges are OK-they seem nice and tight. Has anyone ever used the Billet hinges? Would that help me out??
The rest of the truck came out awesome-I need the hood to fit and am at a standstill-HELP
PS-I used fenders off a 79 but I believe they're identical to 74?
PSS-I'll add some pictures later today of my problem

Lube your hinges
Yes the 79 is the same as 74 fenders.

Re: Hood won't "fit"!!!!

I put a nos hood on my 77 crewcab and it did the same thing its your hinge springs if they are not oem or if your fenders or not oem the holes in the hinges need to be sloted a little more to get the hood to lay down properly I had a good friend that does body work do it for me while I watched took about 20 mins I had a set of aftermarket springs that I used because the paint shop lost my orginal hood springs

The Blazer looks great! But I think you should just abandon it and I’ll sell. To me!! Lol

In all seriousness. It’s your springs. They’re probably worn out.

The procedure for adjusting the hinges isn't very intuitive. Instead of simply moving the hinges straight down, they have to be pivoted (up in the front / down in the back) in order to drop the back edge of the hood.

The easiest way to do that is to open the hood and have an assistant hold the front edge while you loosen the hinge-to-fender bolts. With the bolts loose, have your assistant push up on the front edge of the hood (that will pivot the hinges), then re-tighten the bolts.

Re: Hood won't "fit"!!!!

can you push down on the hood and make it sit flush?

There are stoppers in the cowl area that the rear of the hood rests on. they may need cranked down. but if that isnt the issue then read above posts lol

Re: Hood won't "fit"!!!!

Did you put a new hood to coil seal on?

We had issues with our LMC coal seal holding the hood up. Switched to precision and it’s ok

I agree with this . The hinge has to be pivoted to fit . I have seen this many times . Being in your case I would think you still don't have it adjusted correctly .
