Ignition accesory function
While installing the radio I noticed that my accessory ignition switch function is not working. From what I understand, with these trucks, you should be able to listen to your radio, turn it on and listen to it when you turn your ignition switch to the accessory position. So why isn't working? Where does this wire runs? How do I fix it?
I would like to have an accessory function on my ignition switch. Thanks for your input. |

All 1967 and some early '68's did not have an accessory position on the switch. The accessory terminal on the back of the switch was hot in the run position. Most '68's and all others after that had the accessory position.... LockDoc

Re: Ignition accesory function
It should have an accessory position then. Did you try wiggling the key while you turn it to the left? If it still doesn't want to turn you will have to replace the switch if you want the accessory position to work.

Re: Ignition accesory function
The key does turn to the accessory position, but the radio just doesn't work. Only works when truck is on. I must add that my truck cab is a 69 GMC.

Re: Ignition accesory function
The radio is probably not plugged into the right place on the fuse panel, that is my guess. Check this out, post #5 may be of use, but the whole thread has some good info:
