headlights not working

i`ve got a interesting problem. went out to drive the truck the other night and turned the lights on and they did`nt work. the running lights, tail lights, brake lights and high beem all worked fine but the low beam will not work. electrical problems are not my strong point. anyone have any ides? thanks

Unplug the high beam switch on the floor and look for corrosion.
With the lights turned off, you can flean the contacts up on the switch and in the plug with a wire brish.
The switch its self copuld be dead too.
Those are the 2 #1 reasons for headlights to not work properly.

well i think i found my problem. i got the plug off of the dimmer switch and one of the terminals was melted and the terminal on the dimmer was black. guess it`s time to rewire the truck now.

Not too uncommon for these trucks.
If you wire up the headlights with relays, not only will you get brighter headlamps, but the wires won't carry so many amps and they won't burn up like that.
