Where exatcly do the decals go for.....(Images added)

Hi Chevy/GM Family,

Cant tell you what a huge pain in the ass things have been to registering my truck in Cali. from Canada.
A huge thread in time will come when I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Still no light.

Anyways, two important questions. I searched through the forums before asking. Results were not clear as day. Also couldn't find clear images.

Where does the emission decal go on a 70 1/2 ton truck? See image 1.
I read possible somewhere along the radiator frame?

Where does the emission decal go on a 72 1/2 ton truck? See image 2.
I read possible on driver side top of fender wall and somewhere in top center area of radiator/radiator fan?

Is there a thread in the forums that has pics of just engine compartments? So I can try and get decal reference locations?

Thank you.

Ok...
the vehicle emission sticker goes on top of the radiator support near the battery/passenger side of the vehicle.
This sticker is not very wide and just fits on the rad support 'edge'.

The 'wide' emission/tune up decal goes on the top of the drivers side inner fender facing outwards.

All good

Re: Where exatcly do the decals go for.....

Hi Coley,

By chance could you circle an image and post where exactly where on the rad. support edge it goes. Or post a pic. of engine compartment and best describe location from the pic.? Also, is sticker applied so I can easily read when looking at engine directly or face it in a way it would appear upside down? Only asking because in another thread someone mentioned angle of read.

For wide decal. When stating facing outwards. Does that mean it makes the decal easy to read when looking in from driver side fender into engine compartment? Not looking like its upside down?

Sorry for asking for specifics. But I have my reasons. F! The state I live in.

Re: Where exatcly do the decals go for.....(Images added)

The post you mentioned in post 3 about the angle was most likely mine.

My '69 3/4 ton with 350 was made in Fremont and sold new in southern California. The truck has, and never had, any emissions equipment other than a PCV valve. Here is a picture of the original radiator support showing a tune-up label similar to the one in your picture on the driver's side. I don't recall the truck ever having any emissions label. Obviously, other years, engine sizes and/or GVWRs may have varied.

In the picture I posted above, the driver side headlight bucket is visible just to the left of the sticker. The front of the core support is toward the top of the picture, and the bracket that attaches the fender to the core support is to the left.

Here's a picture from the left front with the core support mounted.

Ok. Here? See image.

So is Coley incorrect with his statement? On passenger side?

All I can say is that based on my truck, which I bought new, it should be on the driver's side of the core support... at least in 1969. Where you've circled would be where mine is.

Note my disclaimer in post 4:
"I don't recall the truck ever having any emissions label. Obviously, other years, engine sizes and/or GVWRs may have varied."

EDIT: I don't believe the 2 decals you show in post 1 would ever have appeared on the same truck. It sounds like you are aware of this based on your asking separately about 70 and 72 1/2 ton trucks in your first post. The wider decal (your second picture) is the type I've seen on 71s and 72s on top of the left inner fender.

Ha! Apparently its what came with the truck. Just refinished.
I had a bad mechanic and when I asked him to check things out. I came back and found out. I have an open air Holly carb and no more choke. Thats another story. Im in the process of rebuilding the old carb. to put back the dual air cleaner. I think I like the classic look. I think I might make it a vote for members here to vote on. Old classic carb. or new open air carb.

Understood and yes I know the difference in stickers.
Here is a quick story on the truck. Its 1970 truck with 402 in it built in Canada. The owner loves the 72. He did a frame off restore and rebuilt it into a 72 Cheyenne super. He gave it to my lady and we imported it from Canada to Cali.. Still unable to register.

Coley,

Could you confirm this is the location for the emissions decal on a 70 truck?
As circled in image.

Thanks

The left hand side is correct, the coolant info sticker goes near batteryfirst two pictures are of my 71 super B.B., third is of my 71 super sb. The small block truck was built in Fremont, the big block was built in Atlanta. Both stickers were replaced as they came from factory. The second picture is of the coolant decal on B.B., the sb is the same.

As a side note my 70 cst B.B. has emission sticker on driver side core support as my sb super does and it has never been tampered with all (original save belts and hoses). 70 truck is a Canada truck.

71 Super,
Wow! Did you rebuild your trucks to be all original? You even have the Delco battery. Never seen that.
My truck is also from Canada. Could you post a picture of the engine bay? Id like to exact reference for location. Please.

Now those are some beauties. I wish I had more garage space. Nice collection. How long did it take you to bring them back to factory original? Id love to see pics of the emissions sticker of the 70 truck. And the Oshawa emissions truck.
Thanks.

I will get those over the weekend, I have three of mine at my house and two others at my moms house ( 70 cst and 72 4x4 super are at moms), so I feel you on room. Sad thing is I am down a few from where I was and the really sad thing is that I am still looking.

Im in awe. Really cool. If I ever leave Commiefornia I def. want to find a wide property for garage and workshop space.
Thank you so much. Cant wait to see the pics.. I want to put decals on exactly how they should.
We are cool and passive letting millions of undocumented people in but a major pain in the ass in letting one truck in. A weekend driver at that. This state blows.

I get the sense that you are in the military. If so, I believe you can register your truck in a state other than California if your home of record is elsewhere, and your driver's license reflects that. Almost any other state will give you less grief. I had several stateside assignments and never changed the plates to register my car(s) in the duty assignment states...though my home of record was California.

One mine for some odd reason they were applied to the tailpipe on my special order dual exhaust.

It is coded on the SPID as emissions central locating unit!
