the steering on my 72 c-10 is acting up. when left idling in the driveway the wheel would slowly turn by itself, but not all the time. the power assist is very poor or jerky. any ideas whats going on

In that case, bad power steering is usually caused by a loose belt, or the pump itself is going bad.

Is there any binding in your column? Some times a misalignment problem will cause this. Bad cab mounts, strg column brgs, etc. if not its probably in the box. Good luck John.

Maybe it is time to call Ghost Busters?

I have NEVER heard of that happening.

hmm...if i turn my wheel to almost full lock (either side) it will go back a little bit, but it won't re-center itself. i have factory PS, good fluid, new(er) belt.
