Harbor Freight air compressor
Is anyone using a Harbor Freight air compressor? My Craftsman with a newer replacement pump isn’t keeping up.

Re: Harbor Freight air compressor
Look at the CFM. (cubic feet per minute)
The more cfm you have the happier you'll be. Its more expensive but worth it. I have these two. Couldn't be happier. Good Luck |

Re: Harbor Freight air compressor
sorry if I'm putting your fire out, but I would not buy HF under any circumstances, I had the HF horizontal 30gal gas motor, very slow to build air. The tank and motor are not to bad but the compressors are very cheap and throwaways. I would watch for an older used IR or similar that does not have aluminum parts on the compressor. But that's just me, talk to other people and get more advice.

Re: Harbor Freight air compressor
If you find a old Ingersoll rand they are great ,but the new ones have lot of complaints they are made in India and mexico .but the tanks are still made in the USA.
As we all know most if not everything today that had a Big Brand Name does not have the quality and craftsmanship it once did for a moderate Price point. I just recently was looking for another compressor for my second garage and after a lot of looking at new compressors, I bought a Old used Kellog compressor, Kellogs are still be made so parts are still avalible . this is a 2 stage / 80 gallon model that can be wired in 115v or 220v I bought it for $300.00 On CL if you have time be paitent a good deal will come up on CL but you have to look on CL everyday my point being that a New compressor of this quality would cost you 3 to 5k new today. |

Re: Harbor Freight air compressor
So, what are some good brands to look for in a used compressor, aside from IR? Also, what are some things you should look for, such as wear items or parts, in a used compressor?
