Ignition Cylinder Problem.

The cylinder in my 77 k10 stuck in the run position. I've stripped down the column and knocked out the casting covering the tang that needs to be depressed to remove the cylinder from the column, but the tab/tang doesn't budge.
Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to proceed. as a last resort I'll use a slide hammer to pull the guts out.
Thanks

Re: Ignition Cylinder Problem.

We had some good threads with good pics on this the last couple years. It's a 2 day job. The first day you try everything and get pissed. The 2nd day it seems to come apart. My trick was to use a steak knife to stab that little tab a couple hundred times. It seemed none of my little screwdrivers were working.

Re: Ignition Cylinder Problem.

There are videos on youtube that may be helpful. Helped me last year replacing mine. If it won't move out of the run position, that may be an issue with removing.

Re: Ignition Cylinder Problem.

I was thinking that also but the new replacement cylinder seem to push in in ant position. As far as online vid's now that I found address the tab being stuck.
If you know of any could you link them here?
