Headers
I have a 51 3100 that i am putting a 305 SBC, 700R4 trans, and 12 bolt out of a K10. I have 2 questions.
stock frame, stock front axle, stock steering column and steering gear. what header do i use? I heard a 265 front exit log header. I would like to do something with better flow. i also know that spacing the steering gear box out 2 inches is not uncommon either when doing this swap. Now for the rear axle. With the purchase of these rear axle brackets (https://www.classicparts.com/1947-54...ctinfo/93-317/ How do i install the springs? They are factory height and still have the overloads on top. do i have to get another steel plate to mount on the (bottom) of the leaf springs to secure them to the rear axle? The factory has the rotation cam because its a torque tube currently and they springs mount under the axle tube. |

Re: Headers
Offsetting the engine to the passenger side a tad helps with clearance and you don't have to move the steering box so far. You can't go much though as the clearance on the passenger side isn't that great.
