bigger clutch
I have a manual 4 speed transmission in my '72 4x4 swb, with a chevy 350 motor. I've gone through two clutches in this truck and am about to replace a third one. My question is can I install a bigger clutch, and if I did, will it wear longer than the standard 10" clutch?

Jay,
I don't have an answer for you, but I DO have information. Both the 10 and the 11 inch clutch for our vehicles use the same flywheel. I'm not sure if there are different machinings for the bolts, but I don't believe there are. This would mean that you ought to be able to use the 10 or the 11 inch interchangeably, assuming the number of splines on the input shaft is the same. Brian |

I never had good luck with stock clutches(leadfoot!) You can run a 12 " clutch on the 11" flywheel setup( same bolt pattern). The bigger clutch sould hold up better, but if you do offroading , you might look into the Centerforce clutches. They arent cheap, but for the money spent, I am very happy with mine. good luck, crazyL

11&12" clutches will bolt to the same flywheel.....the 10" clutch setup has the same dia flywheel, but the bolt pattern is different fot the clutch "hat"(pressureplate). The overall OD measure on the flywheel is 14"(168 tooth ring). Good luck, crazyL
