1987 c60 disc brakes

well the checks in the mail on the c50 so as long as the shipper doesn't screw me over it should be here in a few weeks. fingers crossed. the truck needs brake work and love the idea of ditching the hydrovac and upgrading. while on craigslist I came across this 1987 c60. looks to be an old uhaul truck probably had frame cut down and the guy mounted the dump but never finished it. question is it has 4 wheel disc hydraulic brakes. hmmm.... what are the chances the front and rear axles would swap into my 70 c50? would the widths be the same. second is are those 22.5 wheels. the tires look very low profile and if they are is that the standard 10x? that the modern alcoas are?

Re: 1987 c60 disc brakes

i can tell you the axle will bolt in basically .

i did a axle swap from a 1969 c60 napco 4x4 truck to a 82 c60 2wd truck . the only real difference was spring width in the rear . but this wasnt a problem since i used all the axle u-bolt plate mounting from the 1969 axles . just got the u-bolts made for the width of the new springs .

then shock mounts had to be welded on the axles in a different place still no problem .

last was the steering . i had to get a tapered reamer and open up the drag link hole from 1969 size to 1982 size .

she is driving down the road just fine now .

and the tires might be 19.5 since its a old u-haul and then had low load height trucks. 34"-35" is about the max height tire you will find in 19.5 rim size .

Ok so it has 19.5 has a 350 and a 5 speed be says it's o/d would that be right. And says it's a single speed rear and thinks it's 4.56 does that sound right. Be is going to check the data plate. Would this be a heavy duty enough axle for the c50 and are those 19.5 the same bolt pattern as the 22.5 alcoas. Would love super singles on the back and the low gears would be great with a diesel swap.

Can you post pictures of the swap, or at least just pictures of the truck in running condition now?

Re: 1987 c60 disc brakes

still drum/drum . . . but axle are 69 vintage in a 82 83 c60 .

she went out today in the snow crap we got .

she is 1 hell of a animal . slow and steady but gets the job done .

7.20ish gears in the axles on 8.25x20 rubber .

old green the way he purchased it .
then painted and lettered up .
then axle and t-case swap to 82-83ish .
then black paint job and lettered .
and size refrence pic . my k30 5" lift on 35" tires next to it .

the super short wheel base is a HUGE pro in our country type area for back roads and stuff.

i got the old holmes 480 split boom and front winch/bumper off the old truck . the holmes is going in my new plow truck build in the bed .
