Door Panel Clip "Grommet Ring"??

Reassembling my door and should be putting the door panel back on tomorrow. A few of the door panel plastic clips had a rubber washer/grommet/o-ring on the base of the shaft (see pic). Are they necessary or useful? Did a search and came up with nada. As always, thanks for any input!

I've never seen them on one of our trucks before. I wonder if someone put them on to take up the slack on the panel clips..... You shouldn't need them if you have new clips.

Re: Door Panel Clip "Grommet Ring"??

I haven't run across them on neither of my 72's. But somebody did show them to be a factory installed item on a thread here a week or so ago. I think they were used as a dust or moisture seal. One of those parts like the foam dust seal that's never in place under the horn button on OEM steering wheels...

To me it looks like someone had some extra valve stem seals and didnt know what to do with them!

So, sounds like certainly not necessary. Kind of like the fender to door seal on Cheyennes? Probably just go without them and add a moisture barrier between the panel and door. Thanks for the feedback!
