VIN tab

Has anybody ever tried to clean the VIN tab on their truck? I found mine to have some flakey rust on it making it somewhat illegible. Thinking maybe some steel wool on a tongue suppressor or popsicle stick?

Re: VIN tab

i would not touch it . if for some reason a law or dmv person notices the tag has been messed with then its a red flag most of the time to them .

Re: VIN tab

When I had my dash pad off, I carefully cleaned mine off. Cant remember if I used anything, just a clean rag.

In Ohio there's a lot more to it, than just putting a new one on:

And I'm sure this is for every state, since its a federal regulated tag.

this is illegal and cannot be discussed here Federal law prohibits the removal or replacement of VIN tags
