Single wall top window rubber
This is my fourth blazer and 1st single wall top.
I bought it with the glass out at the start of the minor top repairs. I'm ready to put the glass back in and started to order rubber. Double wall top in the $40-50 range and the single wall top in the $159-188 range. What is the difference? And can someone post a picture of the difference so I know what I am looking at? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Scott |

Re: Single wall top window rubber
The single wall top window is not as thick but not so much that it is $120 difference in the rubber.
I just can't remember the channels being any different. Scott |

Re: Single wall top window rubber
I believe the channels for the glass and top opening are offset and the diameter differs (slightly smaller ?) for a 1x wall top. I'm thankful the gaskets are reproduced at all considering 1x wall tops were a one-year only deal used for part of the model year and installed on K5s assembled at Flint but not St Louis.
Just think of the $$ you'd save selling the 1x wall and going with a 2x top

I know that precision doesn't make the seals, so who does?

Re: Single wall top window rubber
I thought Precision made these...I have a set here and seem to recall Precision on the bag but it's been awhile since I've seen them.

Re: Single wall top window rubber
I found several places that carry them but GMCPaul's was the only place I contacted that have them in stock.
The guy at Dave's told me to make sure I was sitting down when they priced them. I admit, I was blown away. This is my first single wall top. The only other top glass work I had was when one of the side windows were cracked. I was able to save the rubber. This time the glass was already out of the single wall top when I bought it. I did a few minor repairs to the top and it is now ready to be painted. Too far down the single wall top road to turn back now. LOL. Scott |
