Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

Wondering if anyone can confirm if this is a 72 cab I have a bit of a Frankenstein here trying to figure out what I have and how to plan the build.

Here’s pics of the pedal area, rear view mirror mount and cargo lamp. I believe these are the areas with the most difference year to year.

Doesn't look like it. There shouldn't be a hole behind where the throttle mounts on a cable throttle truck. Does it have two studs on the floor at the base of the gas pedal, or the nutplates under the floor for them?

Do you still have the VIN on the driver's door jamb? That will tell you for sure. I can't see it very well in the pic, but it looks like the the roof has holes to mount the rear view mirror. If so, it's not a 72. They attach directly to the windshield on 72s. Your drivers door is not a 72 either.

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

I just went through this with my truck. I'm with 68 pos. I would say its a 71 if it has the vent in the drivers side door jamb by the vin.(only 71-72?) Could it be possible the PO drilled holes in the roof to relocate the mirror?? Is the windshield you pulled off it original and has the mirror on it?

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

It has studs on the floor for the pedal, it does have holes for the rear view on the roof. It doesn’t have a vin on the cab, that would be too easy. Agree doors for sure are not 72, it is a factory A/C cab. So maybe a 71???

The vin and title is 1967 but cab obviously isn’t a 1967 cargo light means 70-72 right?

Generally speaking, a '71 would have a raised spot for where the rear view mirror bolts to.

This, VERY easy to spot the '71 only cab roof. As mentioned, a stamped raised pad in the roof line for the mirror mounting. Only cab in the 67-72 line up that has such.

My money is on it being a '70, because I think that's the first year for the cargo light. That and the fact that it has studs on the floor.

That's good to know. I'll have to take a closer look at my cab to see if the holes were filled. I don't have a raised spot there or holes but my mirror is on the windshield.

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

Does it have the vent in the B pillar by the vin tag ? If it does , and there's no raise area for the mirror then it's a 72 !

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

I say generally 71's have the raised spot for the mirror because I have a buddy with an all original, paint and all early production '71 that doesn't have it, or the vent in the door jamb. I have also seen at least one '72 that had the raised spot but never had a mirror screwed to it. I assume it was an early production truck too.

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

No vent in the door jam so I guess I’m going with it’s a 1970. Not that it matters much for what I’m doing but it’s just nice to know.

Thanks for all the quick help!!!

a 72 has the rearview mounted to the glass doesn't it? quickest way to verify a 67 cab is the dash as some 67s have a panoramic back window

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

My 72 cab was date stamped on the engine side of the firewall. Don't recall exactly where it was but I do remember that it was not coded, but actually had an abbreviated month and year. I'll look tonight and see if it is still visible through the paint that it now has.

Re: Can anyone confirm is this a 72 cab for cable throttle

OK, I can eat crow with the best of them, or at least a little bit...I found the stamping on my 72 cab. It is behind the front right tire on the toe board, but it is coded, kinda...

15_2_1972

You would likely have to remove the inner fender to really see it. I don't know if they did this for all years or even in the same place, but if you find yourself without the front right inner fender it wouldn't hurt to look.
