Front A-arms bushings, things '71
I've never seen this before they are not rubber, well they don't look like rubber and have a grease zerk.
What are these and how do they work, are the like king pin bushings made of metal? Do you test them for good/bad the same way as a rubber A-arm bushing? |

Lower a-arm bushings are metal nuts with a coarse thread, thus only get grease. The upper a-arm bushings should be neoprene but could have been replaced with polyurethane.

The only way I know to check them is to use a spring compressor to take the pressure off of the lower control arm and try to wiggle the arm forward and aft looking for movement of the shaft in the bushing. A dead blow hammer helps. As does removing the wheel. If you can't see any movement they are good, really bad ones like the ones on my Burban flop around a 1/4" or more.
