Value or good price of 72 SWB 4x4

I know these questions are tough so the prices and values will be all over the board but here goes. I found a 72 SWB 4x4 the body has the usual rust plus a small amount over one of the rear outer wheel wells. The body is fairly straight. I have been told but not looked serious but mechanically it is in excellent shape with new brakes trany work engine work. Not many options 350/350 auto. He is asking 2300.
i have not poked around too seriously so I dont know how bad the floor is. Any thoughts for this Missouri truck?
Thanks
Dave
and no I dont have pictures yet but maybe I need some.

I payed $4000 for mine, then a year later $1800 for a new frame !
It is a great deal IMO no matter how bad the body is. Make sure the frame is in great shape, check around the sterring box ! that is where mine was cracked. I did not even notice till the tare down !

$2300 doesn't sound bad for a 4x4 swb.

Sounds like a great price to me. The short wheel base 4X4 trucks are really sought after.

Get some pics when you go to put some money down on the 4X4, you know where to be concerned, then post here, and we'll coach you through the rebuild

When you really want one (SWB/4X4), they may be tough to find. I wanted one bad, finally got one from a customer of minel...$2,500: looked like it was painted with a "mop", rotten stepside, had to cut the box up for scrap, ugly step bumper, bad cab & doors, rusty white spoke wheels, more rust on the front bumper than chrome, exhaust looked like tomato cans, steering & brakes worn out and it leaked everywhere....but it had a SWB frame & title-and that's a start!
The fleet box is on, posi in the rear, better wheels & tires, AND the new 383 w/vortec heads (from this board) is done and ready to install with a fresh TH350. It's coming!

I too have sought a 72 short 4x4 for a long time. Of all the ones I have looked at, most have been so cut and past, I would just pass them up. Now if the truck is original in that the frame has not been cut down to make it a short bed, the price is a good one.
After a frame off restoration, these trucks can command big bucks, 15-20k!, or course yo ucan sink 12k in it beore you know it!
You did not mention any options so I take it it does not have A/C, still a good price although the price is totaly market driven,
Good Luck,
Rick H...

I own a '72 K10 swb 4x4; I bought it from a buddy's brother who was hurting for a down payment on a house. I paid $4000 for it. It needed paint, new motor and a few other goodies under the hood, and the body was fairly straight with a fleetside bed. Baddest mountain truck I've ever owned, I even take it on jeep trails in the mountains.

Well since this came back to teh top I did look it over. The frame was an original SWB but the front of the frame around teh steering box was cracked and rewelded and another crack about a foot in front of that The guy was not around it was in a parking lotso I have not talked to him and probably wont unless he calls me back. The body was rougher than I had initially thought. The dash had been hacked and it had a sun/moon roof. PS PB and no air. Yes they are desirable and would be great to find one but I am not desperate so I will maybe run across a deal sometime. untill then I will continue assembling and sandind and grinding and ... on my 68 SWB 2wd.
Thanks again for the help and especially to landon for telling me where to find the crack...
untill the next one
Thanks
Dave
