Progress of my new truck so far.

Well I've had my truck for a few weeks now, and here is how its coming so far.

I put on a set of KYB shocks, and I am very impressed with them. The truck rides and handles better than my Chevelle, and the cost for them wernt too bad either. I also did all the usual stuff at the same time since I just bought the truck and didnt know when it was last done; oil, coolant, belts, hoses, air filter, and valve cover gaskets because they were leaking.

All my year one parts arrived; 2 cab corners, left side rocker and inner rocker. Now I just have to put them on. My friend said I could borrow his welder, but I have almost no experience with welding, so it should be interesting.

The same friend is selling me a mint grill for it, and 2 complete rust free doors all for about 50 bucks. That will help a bunch.

After the body work is done I'm going to paint it hugger orange with a white top. I also want to get lowering springs for the truck, and then get a 16 or 17'' set of American Racing TT2 wheels.

Gee... nobody demanded pics of my rust bucket!

Regardless, you've got a serious diamond in the rough there, Moloko (and I'm not just sayin' that because you've got a Chevelle, too!)

PS: If you haven't already, check out this site when you get a chance. They're almost as cool as the guys (and gals) on this board!

Lookin good!

If you don't mind me asking....about how much did those KYB's run you each? How much better are they then the upper level Monroe shocks most auto parts sell?

I have $11.95 ea. shocks on my truck....only a year old but i'm not too impressed with them....another lesson that has taught me not to buy cheap parts, lol.

my dad went to a seminar not long ago that only mechanics and service writers were invited to. it was for kyb shocks because they want to broaden there market. the monroe shock tubes looked like exhaust pip the quality of the metal was terrible and failure rate is high. kyb is a good product when i get around to it im gonna yank the sorry @ss gabriels off of mine and replace with either edelbrocks or kyb's and it will most likely be kyb shocks

They were 129 a set and the truck rides and handles like a dream. Im putting a set on my Chevelle as soon as I can. Probably over the winter while the velle is torn apart for an engine "upgrade"
