Adjusting power steering pump output
Looking at options to lessen the power steering assist so the steering feels heavier like the new trucks. Anyone ever tried one of these valves which maintains the pressure but lowers the volume of fluid going to the steering box.

Re: Adjusting power steering pump output
I have used atf to firm up steering a tad, and or I have had my box/pump matched to my desires.
So in theory it should work decent as that is a step they do with performance boxes, but just at a higher level of precision. Much higher. Last time I had my set up rebuilt it cost me $175 |

Re: Adjusting power steering pump output
Just an update, spoke with Tech department at Turn One, I will try their part #PN115. It reduces flow to 1.3gpm which is too much and box will not work properly, so they will adjust it to deliver between 2-2.5gpm which is less than the stock pump output of 3gpm but enough of a reduction to firm up the steering feel. Worth a try for $40 and a 1/2 hour of my time.

Re: Adjusting power steering pump output
Has any one tried shorting the pressure spring?

Re: Adjusting power steering pump output
I did this on the c5 pump ls swap . Blew out the front seal ( turns 7000 rpm ) . Put a new seal in and shortened the spring a little . Never happened again .
I don't know if this will do anything to the feel of the steering . I am sure it had some affect but was not a concern to me . This may have some affect on fine tuning the steering . Most likely would not hurt to try and may even help . Seems like there was a spring kit for this as well instead of cutting the spring . |

Re: Adjusting power steering pump output
borgeson makes shims to lesson the pressure when running GM pumps and Ford racks.
I used them before. Work well. http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/produc...cat=133&page=1
