Interior insulation/sound deadener?

I'm about ready to start and would like to get some input on what others have used, the results you've gotten, and particularly how you did your inside of the firewall area? I'm not using the original pad.
I've been considering Lizard Skin if anyone has an opinion on it. thanks in advance.

ive used lizard skin...works great and sprays easy...but I only used the sound deadener..not the heat barrier...but they can be used on top of each other

I used a roll on bed line on the floor and up the firewall on the inside and that worked great. That was my finished flooring.

I just did the whole interior of my truck with Noico sound deadener mats. From what ive read its pretty much identical to dynamat but way less expensive. I have this down on the floor with carpet over top of it. It sounds tons more "solid" inside the cab, but i didn't drive the truck with it done yet since im waiting on putting an engine back in the truck. I would recommend it so far. 36 sq ft was just enough to do from where the carpet starts at the firewall to up the rear of the cab behind where the gas tank would be.

I used Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro on the floor, up the interior cab back and firewall. I did use a 3M thermo acoustic for cab undercoating. The biggest difference in my case was using sections of the butyl sheets on the inside door skin panels (outer and inner door skins) of the doors.

I used novibe mine is not on the road yet but use the same stuff on the 68 El Camino for a friend well worth the money

Thanks for the input and the pics. Do you think these products will provide heat protection adequately at the firewall and do you plan on covering up the mat to the top part where carpeting doesn't reach?

Fatmat on floor from amazon and rubberized undercoating under cab. Once I installed the carpet with mass backing it deadened the truck right up. I actually bought a firewall padding kit from classic and installed that. Biggest pain was the plastic push in plugs. (hint: heat them up in really hot water)

The foil will help provide heat insulation. I also installed a firewall cover on top of the damplifier, so it looks factory with where the carpeting ends. I did this on a couple previous projects and it has worked well with preventing so much heat transfer from the engine bay into the vehicle interior.

I recommend uxcell 394mil. I used it on my doors when I pulled all the glass out, lined as much as I could on the inside of the outer skin, as well as covered behind the door panel. Made a huge difference. The jute pad you can get from Brothers is also good. Its rubber, with carpet padding on the back. Not that crappy paper cardboard junk, so it deadens pretty good. I'm gonna buy some more uxcell 394mil though and go over everything else. You can find it on Amazon fairly cheap for rolls of it. Its foil backed, super lightweight, thick and sponge-like and super sticky.

Can you provide a description ( product number, etc.) of the 3M thermal-acoustics product you used on the underside of the cab. Is it an Aero product used on airplanes. Source for purchasing it.

Sounds like it may be good inside the doors ? Like original stuff. Which you think is better?

On the Second Skin, what dimensions of the product do you use and/or suggest?

I've used this in the past with excellent results. If you're on a budget, and you want to do a little at a time, this is an alternative, and it's as close as your local Lowes store. If you want to knock out the entire job at one time, you'll need to do the math and see if buying a big roll of Fatmat (or others) is more economical. The Peel and Seal is 6" wide by 25 feet log, so that equates to 12.5 sq ft. and it costs right at $18 a roll. One roll of Fatmat is 18" wide by 33.5 feet long (50sq ft) and runs about $90. If you do the math, the Lowes stuff is about $72 (plus tax) for 50 sq ft, versus $90 for the 50 sq ft roll of Fatmat. Almost the same price. The wider roll will make the job go a lot faster, but the good thing about the 6" wide roll is that the smaller areas are a lot easier to do with less remnant waste. But, big sections of the cab floor go a lot quicker when using the wider 18" rolls.

Fatmat is probably a better product, but the Lowes stuff is not bad at all. The internet "experts" always say that the Lowes stuff makes the interior smell like asphalt, but I'm here to tell you that they are 100% wrong. I did a truck and it sat outside with no carpet and the windows closed during the summer months in the desert of California, and it NEVER smelled. 3 years later, zero smell, and it's still 100% adhered in every place I put it.

I used 3M Body Schutz. I used sections of the damplifier sheets inside the door skins. I think today, the Second Skin product comes with a black coated aluminum top layer and come in sheets. http://store.secondskinaudio.com/dam...heets-12-x-20/
