1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
I bought a 72 blazer saddle tan rear seat today. It folds over flat and the front brackets are hinged so the seat can be tilted forward out of the way. I’ve never seen this. The seat came out of a CST/Cheyenne trim package so maybe that was offered. I read on a very old post that maybe it’s a hickey conversion kit. Looking for some help understanding this. Not sure I’m going to use it or sell it.
Thanks |

Khoult your first in line. I probably will sell it. I was intending on converting my interior to saddle tan but as I sit and ponder that I realize how much stuff would need converting. I’ll post some pics tomorrow. And we can go from there.

Re: 1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
Ok all. Here are some pics. Haven’t cleaned it yet so excuse the dirt. As you can see the front brackets are off. I had to do that as the bed bolts were locked up so I just ripped them from the rusty bed. Also, the arm rest were not with it but the po is looking for them. With that said, it’s clear to see how the hinges allow the seat to tilt forward. What I haven’t figured out is how or if the seat folds. I believe the bolts at the bottom corners loosen and the bracket slides up
(Currently soaking in pb blaster) allowing the seat to fold. As a pic reference I took a pic of my current seat and the bolts at the corners aren’t even exposed for access. The only other 2 question before I turn it over to the experts is how would the seat fold forward if arm rests are attached to he back and front corners and what is the strap attached to the springs for. Ok. Here we go. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by Newtynewt; 03-11-2018 at 02:40 PM. |

Re: 1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
Hey khoult. I’ve been trying to instant message you but I believe there is a virus attached to this forum now as I can’t click nearly anything without an offer to win $1000 amazon gift card or a phone or blah blah blah. I’ve tried 3 times. Anyway. I’d like to get and idea of your thoughts. I believe the belts would have to be priced in if you need them or not. I think there made for the seat. I may be wrong but since they attach to the seat and not the bed rail they are shorter than normal. Also, recall forum previous post that I’m waiting on at rest brackets. Just let me know your thoughts. You can pm me if that’s working for you.

Re: 1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
Did you check out the link I posted 2nd page shows pictures of how the seat would pivot. The arm rest stay bolted to the bottom of the seat and the back attached with wing nuts picture of the studs sticking out of the back just like yours. Hinges look the same also, no one every confirmed but now that you found a 2nd set I would say there is a good chance it is hickey.

Re: 1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
Whoever gets these, please have a couple pairs remade. I have been on the hunt for years.
I never got a response back from the hickey guy when I found out he purchased the set from 1rippen6. |

Re: 1972 Blazer folding rear bench seat
Yup, my suspicions were confirmed. ....My Retro-blaze was completely restored in the 90's and hardly driven, it was featured in "Truckin" magazine (centerfold) Jan 2000, when I purchased it almost 2 years ago, the owner gave me the matching rear seat still wrapped up in plastic that had been upholstered but never installed. lol A lot of green!!!!
