Re: These are Kool!!!

Hmmm... Well.... Are these factory or dealer thingys or is this an aftermarket place sprucing them up? Looks like squarebody BIG 10 and cheyennesuper10 decals/nameplates were used.

Have seen these discussed somewhere before, my personal jury is still out. it "feels" like the upper paint divider line should be higher, but then you'd have to go above the door handles - but that kinda lines up with the upper edge of the wheelwell bulge body line. Hmmmm. Hmmm. Ha.

Interesting how they did the diagonal lines on the tailgate outside the "C-H-E-V-R-O-L-E-T" to make it look sunken like the originals.

Re: These are Kool!!!

I don't particularly like the bulging fender sides. And they look more like square body trucks. I have a 75 3/4 ton 2 tone but mine was done at dealer I think cause glove box says just one color. Like gun metal grey or something. And it may be just the vehicle wraps they do these days??

Re: These are Kool!!!

The body lines in the truck do not work for they paint style. I personally wouldn’t have one. The whole truck would have to be retro like the Camaro.

I prefer yous guys 2 tone rides actually. the "sticker" separation doesn't do it for me. I do like the wheel also though!!

Re: These are Kool!!!

I can’t for the life of me figure out why gm axed the two tones on trucks to begin with. I’d drive one of these no questions asked.

Re: These are Kool!!!

57, I can answer that. Doing away with trim saved GM money. Two tone worked with trim dividers but robots don't tape lines well. And in the 80's the euro look of monotone took over.

Re: These are Kool!!!

I think it looks good and gives the trucks more personality. But I agree that the two tone should go a bit higher. It looks good, but will never look right on these body style trucks that were never designed to be two tone. I definitely think they should bring it back though!

Re: These are Kool!!!

I think they look good but, like any specially prepared vehicle you just buy off the lot, it is for those who lack creativity, vision, and style to come up with their own ideas. Someone else creates it and the crowd says, "Hey I like that. How much?". Why is it that up till now no individual who has bought a newer truck ever thought to do such a simple thing to honor the trucks we love? I'm really surprised no one ever thought of this before. I think they placed the upper line in the best place, all things considred. My only criticism is the fender badge is way too high. I imagine they didn't want it lower because it would be on the bulge facing the emblems up somewhat. The imitation Vette rallyes are far out of place. They were never offered on the truck they are trying to emulate.. or any truck (or car). Funny how the crowd hates white spokes till they see someone else make them look good again. The white wheels give more of what the rallyes take away. I noticed it was odd that GM put wheels on these trucks that are wagon wheels all over again and no one said anything till they were painted white. 12 or so years ago I put white spokes on a deluxe 2-tone (Med Blue/White) '72 K/20 and no one seemed to get it. I had wide steelies, turbines, and slots laying in the shed but I went with new 16" wagon wheels to get the tire I wanted for beach running. Wagon wheels were the only retro wheel offered and I wanted the original paint/dinged & faded trim truck to look like a survivor that had been "done up" way back when and still hanging in (period correct). The ugly white wheels would actually lend something to bring out the sharp color combo. I also wanted to take the wheel that most everyone would want to get rid of and make it look good. I think I nailed it but never got a single comment to that effect. My friend who bought it sold the wheels and tires first thing.

I like the look, but can't see it as retro looking since extended cab trucks never existed till modern times. I'd like to see a regular cab long bed done like this. That is the truck we are most used to seeing this paint scheme on.

Re: These are Kool!!!

Here you go with regular cabs. I think I like this one better than extended cabs. More classy look to it. Even with white spokes. Matter of taste like how we do our trucks. Look at the number of members here who put LS. Engines in old trucks. I would loose the big 10 emblems though. But just my preference.

Re: These are Kool!!!

"Hey I like that. How much?".

Isn't that the case with even the old trucks ?
I like the reg cab above but don't think the big hood lends itself to the stripe....

Just MHO...
